ArcMail Announces First Email Archiving Appliance with Built-in Blu-Ray
Backup and Email Export Capability
Blu-Ray drive enables fast, direct backup and the ability to export email
directly to DVD and Blu-Ray media for use in discovery, Freedom of Information
requests or internal investigations
Shreveport, La.- July 22, 2008 - ArcMail Technology, a leading provider
of email archiving and management technology, and recent winner of the Network
Products Guide 2008 Product Innovation Award, again raised the bar by announcing
the inclusion of Blu-Ray disks on its ArcMail Defender U380 (8TB), U3120 (12TB)
and U3160 (16TB) models. The disks are now optional on other Defender models as
well. ArcMail Defender is a stand-alone network appliance offering up to 16
terabytes of raw storage and data integrity technology that provides
comprehensive archive and data management for organizations of all sizes.
"The addition of Blu-Ray drives to our Defender Email Archive appliances enables
organizations to now perform backups of their email archive directly to high
capacity, high bandwidth random access removable storage, rather than much
slower traditional media such as tapes, making both backup and restore
operations much faster," said Dean Richardson, chief marketing officer of
ArcMail Technology. "Using ArcMail’s patent pending DirectExporttm technology,
an administrator can search an entire email archive and produce either a DVD or
Blu-Ray disk containing all the emails from that search in a matter of minutes.
This brings the speed of data backup and production to an unprecedented level.
To be able to just click a button and burn that data to a DVD or Blu-Ray disk
will save hours, if not days of work for already overloaded IT staffs."
A transparent archiving solution, the ArcMail Defender appliance runs in the
background of a network infrastructure without interrupting productivity or work
flow. Administrators and end-users can search and retrieve any required
information while at the office or remotely on any web browser, including PDA’s
and Smart Phones. In seconds, users can search emails based on sender,
recipient, subject, attachment file name/type, date range or full text within
the email bodies or attachments. Searched email may be read through the user
interface or immediately restored to the user’s email account.
The award-winning ArcMail Defender appliances archive and index all inbound,
outbound and internal email in real-time and are compatible with MS Exchange,
Lotus Notes, Groupwise and many other mail servers with SMTP journaling
functionality. Now, with the addition of Blu-Ray drive technology and
DirectExport, the backup and production of email archive data is even faster.
"Even more exciting, we will be including the Blu-Ray disks and DirectExporttm
option absolutely free on the U380, U3120 and U3160 Defender models for a
limited time, clearly making the ArcMail Defender the leading Email Archiving
appliance on a feature for value basis," added Richardson. "We recognize that
budgets are tight and we believe our email archiving solution provides great
value and ROI at a very attractive price point - as low as $2,999."
